Halyard

Project Description

The Halyard Building is a LEED™ Silver Certified core and shell building located across from the Hood River Waterfront Park in Hood River, OR.

Sustainable elements of water efficiency, energy & atmosphere, materials & resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design, were integrated into the construction of this building in order to become LEED™ certified. Most notably, a 10,000-gallon cistern located on the west side of the building collects storm water runoff from the butterfly design roof and dispenses in a landscape irrigation system to water plants.

The Halyard Building is capped with an Energy Star-rated cool roof, operable windows and ventilation louvers to minimize air-conditioning, skylights for ambient lighting, and solar panels to offset a portion of the buildings electrical load. Nearly 40% of materials used on this project were locally manufactured and 45% include recycled content.
