Kinokuniya Bookstore

Completed in 2019, Portland’s historic Guild Theatre was redeveloped into the Kinokuniya Bookstore. The original building framing incorporated steel roof joist supported by cast in place concrete structural systems. WDY provided structural steel and light gauge framing analysis and detailing for a new mezzanine level. With a new access stair, pedestrian lift, and glass handrail/pony walls. The design incorporated a new bleacher style seating area, bathrooms, and a first-floor coffee shop. Additional structural support systems were provided for bookcases, interior soffits, ceiling clouds, and banners.
